Q3. What
is the difference between Linux and Windows accounts?
Microsoft Windows NT and Unix (of which there are many varieties,
or flavors, including Red Hat Linux, AIX, Solaris and more)
are computer operating systems. Both Windows NT Server and
quality Unix implementations are enterprise application servers
that can be used for a variety of critical purposes, including,
but not limited to, Web, email, and database hosting. Windows
NT was developed by Microsoft and is, in many ways, the flagship
of their software solutions. Microsoft spends millions of
dollars developing and supporting Windows NT.

Q10. How may pages
of web-pages do you give for a website?
The number of pages can be any amount, limited by the size
of the webspace.
top
Q11. How many pages
can I put in my website?
Generally, a normal website is make up about 5-10 pages. A
100 MB web-space will easily can provide for approx. 150-200
pages. It is important to note that your web-space is shared
with the email and a bigger website will consume your bandwidth
volume.
top
Q12. What is the
1GB bandwidth volume related to the 100MB Lite plan?
If you have a website of 10MB, and a visitor visits and navigate
the whole web site fully, it will consume 10MB from the bandwidth
volume. Hence 1GB bandwidth will only cater approx 100 visitors.
Generally the webhosting plans are buffered to accept more
than 1GB and you will be informed of the exceeded volume.
You may have to increase your plan if this situation persists.
With monitoring, you can upgrade your plan as and when to
cater for seasonal volume changes.

Q18. What
is the difference between web hosting plans and e-commerce
plans?
Web hosting plans are mainly html or flash-based and are used
for company profiles and online product catalogs. You may
still be able to sell your products and services with a paypal-shopping
cart.
If you have a large product range and require a database,
e-commerce plans will be more appropriate. These plans uses
a professional shopping cart software to implement your website,
payment, invoice and shipping options. E-commerce plans usually
come with larger web-space and transfer bandwidth.
top
Q19. Can
my website accept payments from credit cards?
All our plans provide 2 options namely the paypal and 2Checkout
options to accept credit card payments. Both options were
chosen because they provide the lowest setup cost. PayPal
and 2CheckOut are bundled free with our e-commerce plans.
Other options you may consider are the WorldPay and ENETS
but both options do not come cheap as they involved SSL certificates,
merchant accounts, setup cost, etc.
top
Q20. Are
there any additional costs involved for selling my products
on my website?
It is important to note that transaction costs are involved
for every transaction processed by either type of accounts.
In PayPal accounts, for each transaction the seller is required
to pay
2.4% $0.30 USD to 3.4% + $0.30 USD
In 2CheckOut accounts, for each transaction, the seller is
required to pay
5.5% plus $0.45 off the retail price of each total order.

Q21 Who has the domain
ownership?
Subscription to any of our plans entitles the ownership of
the domain, which Host Creation will NOT hold on and will
willingly release at no cost to the client (i.e. you).

Q22. What is the difference
between domain and a subdomain?
The difference between a subdomain and a domain name can be
explained easily.
While a domain name is a full website address, totally independent
of other domain names, a subdomain depends on a domain name.
If for example "yourdomain.com" is your domain name,
then
http://yourdomain.com and http://www.yourdomain.com would
be your domain name's address. A subdomain name would be a
name *under* your domain name, something like "subdomain.yourdomain.com".
It's address would then be: http://subdomain.yourdomain.com
and http://www.subdomain.yourdomain.com. It can say anything
you want instead of "subdomain" and the nice thing
is that unlike a full domain name, a subdomain does not need
to be registered - we will register it for you.
top
Q23. Can
I have a subdomain such as "something.yourdomainname.com"?
Yes, you will be able to have your own subdomain, such as
something.yourdomainname.com. A subdomain is basically a subdirectory
or folder created under the primary Domain account which is
a fully operating Web site with its own username and password
and account. The main benefit of a subdomain is that it doesn't
require domain name registration and fees that are associated
with a full domain name.
top
Q24. Do you
register and host all types of domains?
Yes we register the most popular domains extensions that are
available on the market today and host all type of domains,
there are no restriction on that at all.
top
Q25. Why
are Sg domains not included in your plans?
You will noticed that an SG domain cost between $65 to $85
as compared to an international domain which is $20 I am unable
to explain why an SG domain is less prestigious but cost more
than an international domain. In our opinion, it makes for
practical sense to purchase an international domain that is
why SG domains are sold separately from our plans.

Q26. What
is FTP?
FTP means File Transfer Protocol and is an internet protocol
with which you can transfer files over the Internet. It is
fast and reliable.
top
Q27. What
does "unlimited FTP accounts" mean?
You can create a certain number of FTP user accounts in your
control panel (depends on the plan). This FTP user will get
his very own access information. Because of this great feature
you could offer small hosting services to mini websites that
do not need their own domain name. Once you order a hosting
account at Host Excellence, simply login to your conrol panel
and start creating FTP users.
top
Q28. Can
I upload my websites using FTP?
The hostname (also called destination address / target address
/ ftp address, etc.) for your account is always ftp.yourdomain.com
or the IP address (looks like this: "100.200.150.250")
Please note that ftp.yourdomain.com will not work before you
have changed the nameservers of your domain name to ours.
To connect please use the username and password you received
in your account information email. The directory that you
should upload your HTML files (the web pages) to is /yourdomain.com/
The directory that you should upload your cgi-scripts to is
/yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/.
top
Q29. Which
FTP program would you recommend?
We recommend to use cuteFTP or WS_FTP when uploading your
files.
You can download a free demo of cuteFTP here: www.cuteftp.com.
